Orvelt vs Podium

Compare Orvelt and Podium for review invitations, structured feedback, messaging, lead conversion, APIs, and pricing.

Updated September 20, 2026
BusinessComparisons

Orvelt and Podium both help local businesses collect feedback and respond to customers. Podium places reviews inside a larger communication and lead-conversion system built around texting, a shared inbox, webchat, phones, and payments. Orvelt places feedback inside a public opinion and research system built around custom questions, private answers, evidence, and project data.

Short answer: choose Podium when the customer conversation and revenue workflow should stay in one inbox. Choose Orvelt when the opinion itself needs a richer, verifiable, and portable structure.

Compare review collection

Podium makes review requests part of the customer conversation. Its product page emphasizes textable invitations, automated reminders, Google and Facebook visibility, attribution, and a consolidated review inbox. The API can create a unique review invite link for one phone number or email. Podium warns developers not to reuse one link across contacts because reuse can damage reporting or stop the link from working.

Podium's invite object records channel, sender, delivery state, click state, and any attributed review published on a source site. This gives operations teams a strong request-to-review funnel.

Orvelt's preverified link also addresses one customer, but it serves a different purpose. It stores customer email, an optional reference, and its validity period; tracks issued, clicked, submitted, or expired status; and gives the resulting opinion a delivery_link verification type. The customer stays in the Orvelt opinion workflow rather than selecting an external review destination.

Orvelt also supports permanent and rotating project opinion QR codes and an origin-restricted website widget. The widget asks up to three eligible project questions and creates an anonymous response record. Podium Webchat is a lead conversation widget, not the same type of feedback collector.

Compare feedback depth and privacy

Choose between a review request and a guided opinion

Podium's review object mirrors source-platform data: author, body, URL, five-star rating or recommendation, source site, business responses, location, and invite attribution. That structure works well for reputation management because it normalizes reviews from different sites into one operator experience.

Orvelt controls the collection schema. A business can define project goals and questions, choose text or selection modes, assign tags and priorities, activate or archive questions, and mark a question's answer private. A customer can submit a public opinion, answer guided questions, or combine both.

Private Orvelt answers stay in the feedback record and can be filtered through the owning business's API. Podium can continue a sensitive issue through direct text or another inbox channel, which may be better for case resolution. It does not create the same consistent private question field across public review submissions.

Choose Podium when the next action is a conversation, appointment, sale, or payment. Choose Orvelt when the next action is analysis against a defined learning goal.

Compare communications and operations

Account for the products Orvelt does not replace

Podium's broad operational suite is its largest advantage in this comparison:

  • a shared team inbox with mentions, routing, templates, and AI replies;
  • website chat that hands conversations to text;
  • business phones with call routing, recordings, transcripts, and summaries;
  • text-to-pay, card readers, tap to pay, subscriptions, and financing options;
  • contact profiles that connect review and conversation history;
  • a mobile app for review and customer communication work.

Orvelt does not position itself as a phone system, sales inbox, webchat lead tool, or payment processor. Its adjacent capabilities support the feedback program: public storefronts, owner responses, comments, subscribers, a business knowledge base, team access, traffic analytics, widgets, and integrations.

If your procurement brief says “miss fewer leads and close more business,” Podium is closer. If it says “understand and verify what customers experienced,” Orvelt is closer.

Compare trust signals

Distinguish delivery attribution from evidence

Podium connects an invite to a contact channel and can attribute the external review that followed. Source sites such as Google or Facebook retain their own identity, moderation, and publication rules. Podium's review-management value comes from central visibility, response workflow, and attribution.

Orvelt can connect the opinion to visual evidence, an addressed delivery link, or permanent or rotating QR provenance. This context remains part of the Orvelt record. A customer can also present anonymously in the public interface.

Both products can show that a request or workflow occurred. Orvelt goes further in the current reviewed implementation by representing an explicit opinion verification type and receipt status. Podium goes further by connecting review work to the customer's communication history.

Compare APIs and automation

Choose the events your systems need

Podium's developer platform includes review invite, review, review response, message, contact, conversation, invoice, and webhook resources. Review webhook events include invite-link creation and updates, review creation and updates, and response creation and updates. Webhooks are scoped to a location or organization, signed, queued, and expected to receive a response within five seconds.

Orvelt's Business API focuses on the opinion program. It exposes questions, goals, opinions, answers, responses, preverified links, subscribers, knowledge, analytics, and webhook configuration. Current public webhook topics notify on received opinions and answers. API keys are project-scoped and carry explicit permissions; the TypeScript SDK provides generated operation and Zod response types.

Podium offers a wider business-communications surface. Orvelt offers richer typed access to the guided answer model. Compare the exact endpoint and event your workflow needs rather than treating both as generic “API access.”

Compare pricing and procurement

Demand an itemized Podium quote

Orvelt publishes Launch at $0, Growth at $40/month or $384/year billed annually ($32/month effective), and Scale at $200/month or $1,920/year billed annually ($160/month effective). Growth and Scale include a 14-day trial. Usage limits cover private answers, preverified links, goals, active questions, and extra teams.

Podium's pricing page, checked August 13, 2026, says plans fit specific business needs and directs buyers to sales for details. It does not expose fixed monthly prices in the fetched public page. A useful quote should separate base platform cost, AI Employee, texting and 10DLC charges, locations, users, phones, payments, bulk messages, onboarding, support, and contract length.

Podium may consolidate several paid systems, so comparing its quote only with Orvelt's review features understates its scope. Orvelt's lower and transparent entry price reflects a narrower product boundary.

Make the choice

Pick Orvelt when

  • You want the opinion, guided answers, private disclosures, and evidence in one native record.
  • Your program uses project goals and business-defined questions.
  • Visual-evidence, QR-code, or customer-addressed verification context matters.
  • You need raw answers, visibility filters, CSV exports, and a generated TypeScript SDK.
  • You already have communication, phone, lead, and payment systems.

Pick Podium when

  • Text messaging is the main customer channel.
  • Reviews must share an inbox with leads, calls, notes, and follow-ups.
  • Google, Facebook, and other external review destinations drive reputation.
  • Webchat, AI response, phone, payment, and mobile workflows can replace separate tools.
  • Review invite attribution and operator efficiency matter more than custom question research.

Use both when

Use Podium for communication and external reputation while Orvelt holds deeper opinion research. If you deliver an Orvelt preverified link through Podium, preserve consent, contact, and delivery records and label the message as an Orvelt feedback request. Do not use a private Orvelt answer to decide who receives an external public-review invitation.
